In continuation of his engagements with diverse groups, the Kwara State PDP gubernatorial candidate, Alh. Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi, on Wednesday, met with Ilorin East and South women stakeholders at the residence of Alhaja (hon.) Nimatallahi Ibrahim, where he enjoined the women to work unanimously to return PDP to power at all levels.
There is no gainsaying that women play a vital role in the sustenance of our economy and the consultation about the plans and programmes of Alh. Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi for women is a clear demonstration of his Prosperous Kwara’s vision for the development of the State, specifically in the area of SMEs, to ensure the self-sufficiency of women and youths in the state.
“I understand the role SMEs play in the development of the economy and their importance as the potent sources of growth of any nation’s Gross National Product (GNP)”
“In realization of our prosperous Kwara’s agenda, my administration will remain committed to prioritizing the empowerment of women and youths to make them active players in the economic development of the state. Women and youths will form the nucleus of our government” – Yaman stressed.
Alh. Shuiabu Yaman Abdullahi reaffirmed his commitment to increasing the level of women’s participation in politics in line with the 35% affirmative action as contained in the Beijing Conference document.
“I will review the affirmative action for a more inclusive representation of women in both elective political and appointive public service positions.”
