Teacher Induction Training : Buhari Hails Gov. Abdulrazaq’s KwaraLEARN Initiative

Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq, has been commended for his transformative approach to education in the state, particularly the fortification and investments in public schools which had hitherto suffered neglect and discrimination.

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Abubakar Saddiq Buhari, gave the commendation today at the closing ceremony of the Wave 1 of the Teacher Induction Training programme organised by the Kwara Leading Education Achievement and Reform Now (KwaraLEARN) at Queen Elizabeth School, Taiwo, with the theme, “Teaching Through Technology: Making a Difference in the Classroom.”

Buhari emphasized the need for the teachers to ensure they pass the training across to their pupils in school and he added that there should be an appropriate feedback mechanism to determine areas that still need to be worked on and areas of strength.

He described the governor as a good investor who knows the benefits of investing in the education sector which will in turn produce quality and sound graduates in the future who will help in building the state and country at large.

On her part, the Regional Director Leadership and Development, NewGlobe, Ibironke Olurotimi, submitted that the teachers were enthusiastic and attentive, and she added that there is a robust monitoring technological system that helps them to monotor the teachers and how well the pupils are learning in school.

She added that the Wave 2 of the training is set to commence on the 4th of January, 2023 and it will be a 10-day rigorous training whereby additional 3,320 headteachers and teachers from 502 state-owned primary schools will be trained on effective classroom management and tech-enabled teaching.

Olurotimi noted that this training is particularly needed as the KwaraLEARN programme is expanding to accommodate 6 more Local Government Areas by January 2023.
