The 6 months extension placed on the suspended local government chairman which remains an illegality and a danger to our nascent democracy and a further assault on the serially raped third tier of government didn’t come to me as a surprise, I am just disappointed in those expecting a different outcome.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s action have once again proven and shown his glaring and unambiguous contempt for constitutional democracy and separation of power.
From the rushed demolition of ile arugbo, to the illegal hoodwinking of PDP members to join his badly partitioned and crumbling political party, nothing surprising can come from the stable of the Governor and his government again.
The defection of the suspended local government chairmen alongside their councillors from PDP to APC is nothing but a cosmetic arrangement. Every political office holder cross-carpeting want there complete share of national patrimony, hence joining the rapidly decomposing APC shouldn’t be a big deal.
However, what I’ve failed to come to terms with is the childish believe of the decampees that once they join the AA train, they’ll be reinstated, it takes a fool to believe the same governor who couldn’t keep to the bargain that got him the guber ticket through a faulty selection process, would fulfil his veil promise of returning them to office.
That Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaa is a serial betrayal of trust is well documented, so no need flogging a dead horse, all his appointment thus far have seen him betraying his loyalists and party stalwarts even after promising them the position, only for them to air the announcement of another name.
If you ask me, the latest betrayal of the 16 conscienceless Robinwoods is the most apt reward for their shameless conduct of abandoning the home that sheltered them while they were nobody and made them prominent personalities in their respective local governments.
They once again proved bookmakers right that not a few of them betrayed the Saraki dynasty during the last polls, they failed to allow leader’s emissaries reach the desired destination, which was largely responsible for the outcome of the polls.
I am thus happy the Governor have betrayed their gentleman agreement even after they fulfilled their own side of the unholy bargain of decamping and sleeping on the same bed with their political tormentors.
They should live with the disappointment and be prepared for more of such disappointment, as nature will reward them handsomely for betraying and insulting the house the made them and sheltered them.
The cheapest political strategy i’ve even seen in recent times is the 16 Robinwoods musketeers and Gov. Abdulrahman both serial betrayals dining together without trust.
