A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Hon. Abdulwahab Oladimeji Issa has congratulated Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq on his victory at the March 18th Kwara State governorship election.
Wahab, in a statement by his Press Secretary, Aliu Ahmad Gold, said the re-election of the Governor is an attestation to the fact that Kwarans appreciate his efforts at making life more comfortable for the people of the state in the last four years.
He described Abdulrahman as a focused, compassionate and sincere leader with genuine concern for the overall good of the citizenry, stressing that voters have demonstrated that given a choice, they would readily choose a sincere leader who cares for their wellbeing above other considerations.
Gov Abdulrahman had been declared the winner of the Kwara Governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) earlier in the morning after he outpolled Alhaji Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi of the PDP, and others in his re-election bid.
Part of the statement reads “On behalf of my family, I heartily congratulate our Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for this historic re-election as Governor for a second term.
“No doubt, it has been a very tough battle, but the people of Kwara have spoken in clear terms. They have chosen to reward Gov. Abdulrahman’s sincerity of purpose with another term of office.
“Regardless of what anybody might say, the Kwaran electorate has demonstrated a high level of sophistication. They have shown that they have the capacity to sieve through electoral promises and determine a leader that will serve their interest better.
“The people of Kwara State know His Excellency as an honest leader and have, through their votes, demonstrated their trust in his ability to take them to the next level of development and prosperity.
“It is a new day and a new season and I congratulate Mr Governor for the victory and the entire Kwara people for their courage and steadfastness and for their determination to deepen democracy in the country.”
Wahab also congratulated the party’s Kwara State House of Assembly Members-Elect, particularly in Ilorin South, Hajia Mariam Yusuf Aladi and Ilorin East, Hajia Fatima Arinola Lawal, while urging the losers to be gallant in conceding defeat and use constitutional means to settle whatever grievances they might have rather than resort to self-help.
