The senator representing Kwara North Senatorial Districts, Sadiq Suleiman Umar felicitate with his constituents on the occasion of democracy day.
In a statement signed by his media team said, It is already one year yesterday since you sent me to the National Assembly to represent you. It has been a year of triumph, consolidation, pains and achievements. By inspection, instinct and experience, my preference is to look forward, to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead and rededicate my commitment to the task of fixing those challenges.
Senator Sadiq believed that he has also learn from the obstacles and the progresses made thus far, to help strengthen the plans in place to put Kwara North back on the path of progress.
He said democracy day is a day to affirm our belief in democracy as the form of government that best assures the active participation and actual benefit of the people. Despite the many years of hardship and disappointment, the people of kwara north have proved inherently good, industrious tolerant, patient and generous.
“The past months have witnessed huge downfall of oil revenues due to global competition of oil prices which in turn resulted to review of the 2020 fiscal budget of the country. And you all know that every constituency project of the legislators is centred on the national budget. However, through the foundation, Sadiq Umar Empowerment Foundation we will continue to provide necessary interventions that will have immediate impact on the lives of the constituents.” He added
“For the past one year, significant milestones has been recorded, sponsored and co-sponsored relevant bills and motions, various social interventions programmes which include, distribution of drugs to twenty-nine (29) Primary Healthcare Centres across the senatorial districts, sponsorship support for undergraduates, postgraduate and law school candidates, drilling and repairing of hand pump and motorised boreholes, support for the farmers, monthly stipends for the aged people, vulnerable widows and quarterly cash grants for small and medium scale enterprises amongst other several interventions.”
The senator paid a special tribute to the frontline health workers who are in forefront in curtailing and defeating the novel corona virus Their work has been amazing. We owes them a debt of gratitude. He said.
He thanked and appealed to the constituents to continue supporting the state government’s under the leadership of H.E Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who has been very supportive and encouraging in addressing the challenges facing kwara north, and also support all public office holders in Kwara North in the efforts to fix our senatorial district.
