Renowned Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso, has passed away. The news of her death was announced on Tuesday morning by prominent Ilorin-based cleric, Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh, via his official Facebook page.
Confirming the development, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Jubril Gawat, who is a relative of the deceased tweeted, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” Q 2 V 156.”
She was well known for her enchanting voice and religious songs, which deeply resonated with many in the Muslim community.
