Children’s Day: Support Kwara’s quest for SDGs implementation- Dr Jamila urges stakeholders

The Senior Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Dr Jamila Bio Ibrahim on the occasion of International Children’s Day has called on the society to rise up in defence of children’s rights to access to quality education and ACHIEVING gender equality, which falls under goal 4 and 5 of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) currently being implemented in the state.
Dr Jamila, who commemorated this year’s Children’s Day with a visit to Bwereguru and Tuka Primary Schools in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, which was in advancement of efforts aimed at fulfilling this year’s theme of “promoting Girl Child Education for Sustainable Development” notes that, World Children’s Day is to promote international togetherness and awareness among children and this year’s focus is A CALL TO ACTION to promote education OF THE GIRL CHILD, which is already captured in Kwara’s plan TOWARDS implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Dr Jamila noted that, even though the Kwara State government is committed to LEAVING NO CHILD child behind in its drive for the provision of quality education and promotion of gender equality, she explained that the government cannot do it alone, calling on national and international stakeholders to support the state in IT’S  quest for implementation of the SDGs.
“We are doing all we can to improve access to quality education for children, particularly IN PROMOTING girl child education for sustainable development IN MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES , but we require all the support we can get and are open to all forms of partnership to fast track the process”
Dr Jamila also agrees with the United Nations that, “World Children’s Day offers each of us an inspirational entry-point to advocate, promote and celebrate children’s rights, translating into dialogues and actions that will build a better world for children”.
She therefore calls on all well meaning members of  society to support government effort for the realization of this noble agenda.
