One year after he was turbaned as the Turaki of Ilorin, Saliu Mustapha will be awarded a chieftaincy title in Obbo-Aiyegunle, a community in Kwara South senatorial district.
Mustapha, who is the All Progressives Congress candidate in the 2023 Kwara Central senatorial election, will be named the Maiyegun of Obbo-Aiyegunle on Saturday.
According to a copy of the notification issued by the Owa L’Obbo of Obbo-Aiyegunle, Engr. (Dr.) Samuel Oluleye Adelodun in October, the title is in recognition of Mustapha’s relationship and contribution to the community.
“The Owa L’Obbo in Council and the entire Obbo Aiyegunle Community in recognition of your long standing friendly relationship with our community and her sons and daughters of our hereby wishes to inform you of the decision of the Kabiyesi HRM Owa L’Obbo of Obbo-Aiyegunle Engr. (Dr.) Samuel Oluleye Adelodun and the entire Obbo-Aiyegunle Community to honour you with chieftaincy title of “Maiyegun of Obbo-Aiyegunle” during the 4th Obbo- Aiyegunle Day Celebrations,” the letter obtained by our correspondent read.
It was stated that Mustapha’s new title will be conferred at the event which will be held at St. Luke’s Primary School.
Mustapha has over the years contributed to human capital development in Kwara state through his not-for-profit Saliu Mustapha Foundation.
The Foundation has spearheaded a lot of humanitarian interventions and empowerment programmes across the state.
Others to be conferred with varying traditional titles include the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer of Kursi Investments Limited; Amb. Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki; an oil and gas magnate, Alhaji Sherif Shagaya, among others.
