2nd Year Anniversary: Constituents Convene Special Prayer as Cleric Admonishes Oloriegbe on legacies

It was rain of prayers for the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, in Ilorin today in commemoration of his two years anniversary in office.

Members of the legislator’s senatorial district convened the special prayer to seek divine face and guidance for the remainder of his sojourn in the temple of lawmaking.

Oloriegbe was inaugurated as member of the red chamber of the National Assembly in June 2019 after his victory as the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the general election held four months earlier.

The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Solihu, led the prayer session with assistance of other prominent Islamic scholars from Ilorin, who beseeched the Almighty Allah to inspire the legislator in his various undertakings for the development of Kwara Central he represents.

Solihu believed that no mortal can do without communicating with the Almighty God in one way or the other irrespective of the faith he or she professes.

The spiritual gathering featured recitation of the noble Qur’an and special prayer session dedicated to Oloriegbe to enable him deliver more for the betterment of his senatorial district.

In his lecture, an Ilorin-based Islamic preacher, Sohibuli Bayan, cautioned office holders not to be swayed with momentary euphoria of being in offices.

He said they should constantly be reminded that some occupied the offices yesterday and that they were no longer in their former offices should suffice as lesson for today’s office holders.

The cleric, who eulogized Oloriegbe for his performance in the past two years as Kwara Central Senator, urged him to consolidate on the feat to further reinforce the confidence of the constituents in him.

He also admonished to him to be conscious of his legacies so as to have good stories to tell at the end of his tenure in office.

At the prayer session, which also coincided with the presentation of magazine and awards, were delegation of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Senator Sodiq Umar of Kwara North, Leader of the State House of Assembly, Abubakar Magaji Olawoyin and other leading figures in the polity.
