In an effort to combat the rising prevalence of kidney and liver diseases in Kwara State, the LifeSaver’s Initiative has launched a comprehensive awareness campaign aimed at educating the public about the risks, consequences, and preventive measures associated with these conditions.
Founder of the LifeSaver’s Initiative, Solihu Yusuf, emphasized the urgency of addressing the alarming increase in kidney and liver diseases in the state.
He stated, “It’s so sad to see the pictures of loved ones on social media platforms begging for money for kidney transplant.”
The initiative has garnered support from more than 200 dedicated volunteers, including medical doctors, lab scientists, and representatives from both government and private hospitals.
Their collective goal is to provide vital information and medical outreach programs to all 16 local government areas in Kwara State.
Yusuf expressed that the kidney and liver diseases pose significant public health challenges, not only in Kwara State but across Nigeria as a whole.
He added that despite the availability of effective treatments and preventive strategies, a large portion of the population remains unaware of the potential risks and consequences associated with these conditions.
He furthered that the lack of awareness has contributed to the increasing incidence of kidney and liver diseases, causing hardships for individuals, families, and communities. “The LifeSaver’s Initiative is committed to addressing this issue head-on by spreading awareness, offering medical outreach programs, and ultimately reducing the prevalence of these debilitating diseases.”
The initiative’s founder, Solihu Yusuf, concluded by stating their dedication to creating a healthier future for the people of Kwara State.
